'And the rat laughed' begins in 2014 in Jerusalem with Eva, an Holocaust survivor from New York, trying to answer her granddaughter's questions for a school project. As a five years old girl Eva had been hidden from the Nazis on a farm in Poland, in a pit, with only a rat for company.
In the pit she was abused by Stefan, the son of the Polish farmers.
Eva's granddaughter Shelly sets up an internet site called 'And the rat laughed' which spreads the mythical memory around the world.
The movie takes place in the past, present and future, from 1942-2111.
